2018 Sun Tracker 24 DLX Party Pontoon
We tested out this model for the past two seasons in our fleet. It is an extremely reliable boat and has been our work horse. So far, it hasn’t let any of our passengers stranded. It had a few issues arose but our dealer quickly repaired some minor problems such as a faulty trim hydraulic. The boat comes well packaged and craftsmanship has been comparable to many entry level pontoon boats. My only complaint, would be for a pontoon measuring just over 26 feet should hold more than 12 passengers, Another complaint is that it came with paper thin speakers that we quickly had to replace because it couldn’t handle our time out on the lake.
Measuring just over 26 feet in length, the Sun Tracker has two 24-inch diameter multi-chamber marine grade .080 aluminum pontoons underneath. With the well constructed craft, you can rest assure the 24 DLX is going to deliver nothing but the safest and most comfortable ride for the conditions at hand, although on most of our tested days the weather has been calm and warm.
Mercury Marine’s new 115 FourStroke is being touted as the ultimate 115 hp EFI outboard engine for boaters seeking an engine that offers unprecedented world-class durability under all conditions and is light enough to deliver superb fuel efficiency and tremendous performance. The hype had brought us to this point and now we were ready to put the throttle down and see what she could do.
With two of us onboard to run our tests, I was surprised by the amount of torque from this engine as we quickly jumped up on plane. This engine delivers fuel efficiency at cruising speed that you almost have to see to believe.
And despite the list of precedent-setting features and benefits, Mercury’s new 115 is also affordable and a world class contender with it’s reliability.
With our extension testing and operation of this boat for the past two seasons, we definitely recommend this pontoon for someone that wants a party pontoon for personal use. Check out Sun Tracker’s website for more information and maybe it will be your next boat in the foreseeable future.
